Why eat to live . . . when you can eat to thrive?Eating to Thrive, is based on the philosophy of eating whole, unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods to nourish the body and in turn, promote optimal health and wellness. This four-part nutrition course focuses on teaching individuals about the basic concepts of nutrition, the role of nutrition in health and physical and mental performance, eating for optimal health instead of dieting, and developing an eating plan that is tailored to their unique needs and preferences. The health-promoting and healing powers of food are highlighted, and the importance of customizing one's diet and eating style is emphasized.
Program participants learn about why dieting does not work, how processing of food negatively affects its nutritional value, the importance of food quality, how food relates to chronic diseases and other health ailments, and how the Standard American Diet detracts from our health. Participants are taught how and where to find the healthiest foods, food preparation guidelines and tips, balancing meals, and meal planning. Goal setting, motivation, behavior change, and addressing numerous other common challenges to a healthy lifestyle are highlighted.
All participants are provided with a class curriculum which also includes articles and resources. Participants will obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to make healthier dietary choices, determine exactly which foods work for their bodies, and how to find a healthy balance in order to createasustainable,lastingapproachtonutritionforlife.
